Skin Type vs Skin Condition
It is important to distinguish the difference between a skin type and a skin condition. You cannot modify your skin type, you are born with it and it will most likely stick with you your whole life. However, you can maintain your skin type by having a proper skincare routine. Skin conditions, on the other hand, are temporary and can be prevented by also having a proper skincare routine.
Alipic skin type is usually referred to dry skin that produces little to no sebum secretion, making it less prone to pimples and blackheads. Ideal! Right? There's a catch. This means your oil glands are not producing enough sebum which paves the way to dehydrated skin, because the hydrolipidic film (the oil film on the skin) is not defending the skin against bacteria. We recommend using oil based products (check out our Sunflower Cleansing Oil) to balance your skin's sebum secretion in order to maintain its suppleness and moisture.
A normal skin type is one that does not secrete excessive sebum/oil. It is not too oily nor too dry. People with a normal skin type can occasionally have pimples and blackheads that are often caused by not having a proper skincare routine. Based on your preference, you can use our Sunflower Cleansing Oil or Citrus Cleanser.
Combination skin is simply having oily skin in some areas and dry skin in other areas. The oiliness is usually on the t-zone of your face, meaning your forehead, nose and chin. Try out our Citrus Cleanser, this would be the perfect fit for a Combination skin type.
An oily skin type secretes an excessive amount of sebum (oil), has dilated pores, shiny complexions, blackheads and pimples. Hormones can also affect your skin's sebum secretion. An oily skin cannot be cured but can be maintained with a proper skincare routine as well as a healthy diet. Try out our Citrus Cleanser, this would be also be a perfect fit for an Oily skin type.
A sensitive skin usually gets quickly irritated and is very reactive to certain skincare products. Redness and itchiness are common with this skin condition.
This skin condition is usually very common, it means that your skin is lacking water. Your skin can experience dullness, itchiness, flakiness and fine lines. Any skin type can experience dryness, but this can be treated by adding a daily moisturizer to your skincare routine.
This skin condition occurs when people have a deficiency in their skin elasticity, flexibility and muscle tone. Thus, wrinkles start to appear, the skin becomes fragile and loses its vibrant tone. For this reason, it is important to always moisturize your skin, to use the appropriate products for your skin type and to apply sunscreen every day.
